Special Topics in Management

The course includes the analysis of specific business management topics through the processing of case studies of Greek and foreign companies, on which tudents discuss and propose solutions based on the acquired knowledge.. 

In the context of the course, special management topics are analyzed, indicatively in the following areas: 

  • International Entrepreneurship: Internationalization and globalization, modes of entry into an international market, organizational structure of internationalized business, multinational strategy, structure and evolution, factors influencing an international strategy.
  • Entrepreneurship and digital business: Entrepreneurship, start-ups and innovation, life cycle of a start-up, modern business models.
  • Technology and Innovation Management: The concept of “innovation” in depth, dynamic methods of managing an innovative business, production methods.
  • Marketing and Internet: The impact of new technologies on marketing, online buying behavior, digital marketing information, behavior analysis and social media, customer relationship management systems (CRM), digital media for shaping marketing strategy, digital marketing mix.
  • Electronic transactions: Electronic transactions: Basic characteristics, history and modern trends, categories of electronic transactions, (Inter)business electronic transactions, e-commerce, electronic governance and provision of electronic services, interoperability, benefits and risks of adopting electronic transactions.
  • Supply Chain Management: The concept of logistics, flow of materials and information, areas of application, the function of supply, “green logistics”, reverse logistics.
  • Process Reengineering: The concept of “process”, the need for reorganization, goals of reorganization, process modeling with BPMN, methodologies for analyzing and optimizing processes, reorganization and conventional improvement practices, success / failure factors and criticism.
  • Quality Management: The concept of Total Quality Management, General principles and axioms of Total Quality Management, benefits of applying Total Quality Management, quality control, quality assurance, quality assurance systems.
  • Cost Accounting: The concept of administrative accounting and cost, costing, types of cost and production cost, the concept of “cost center”, cost allocation methods, distribution and redistribution processes, costing methods.
