Enterprise Information Systems

The course aims to provide a a comprehensive overview of the process and tools for developing information systems in businesses. It covers the entire life cycle of an information system development project, identifying the challenges at each stage and the methods to address them. The first part introduces the role and operational framework of information systems in businesses: a) Information Systems in Business today b) Global E- business and cooperation, c) Information Systems, Organizations and Strategy and d) Ethical and Social Issues of IS. 

Then the infrastructure of information technology is developed: a) IT infrastructures and emerging technologies, b) Foundations of Business Intelligence - Databases and Information Management, c) Telecommunications, Internet and Wireless Technology and d) Information Systems Security. 

In the next part, the applications of information systems that businesses use to improve decision-making and business excellence are analyzed: a) Operational Systems, b) E-commerce - Digital markets, digital goods, c) Knowledge Management and Artificial Intelligence and d) Decision Making Improvement. 

Finally, modern approaches for the analysis and design of information system solutions for business problems are presented: a) Selection & Evaluation of Information Systems projects, b) Development of Information Systems, Agile software development, Unified Design Language (UML), c) Management of Information Systems Projects and PM² Project Management Methodology.
